Real Avilés Industrial was born in 1983 when Real Avilés Club de Fútbol absorbed Club Deportivo Ensidesa, and started in the same division as its predecessor, the third, initially lasting two seasons.
It returned to that level in 1987, being crowned champions three years later, thus promoting to division two. After comfortably finishing in midtable in its first season, Avilés ranked second from bottom in the following, spending a further eight years in the third category, then two more from 2002–04, after which it returned to the fourth.
In 2010, the club was renamed Real Avilés.
